The transportation systems can and should play a significant role in letting communities be smart, sustainable, inclusive and secure. Indeed, it is common opinion that intelligent mobility systems for logistics and people may significantly change the traditional mobility paradigms, the traditional transportation planning approaches and may make the whole social and economic system more efficient.

Efficiently monitoring and managing the transport system of a community allows to:

(i) make the served social system competitive and fair,

(ii) make the supported economic system competitive,

(iii) manage critical infrastructures as well as indirectly monitor the territory,

(iv) prevent any critical events (daily, periodical and exceptional),

(v) provide security to users and non-users of the transport system itself,

(vi) promote the administrative activity of the public authorities, along with interaction with citizens.

The overall objective of the conference is to put together the existing, but innovative, technological, methodological and experimental knowledges in order to propose a comprehensive framework aimed to support decision makers, industries and investors. The conference will deal with the following domains:

Transport modeling and control
Demand modelling and travel behavior
Model calibration and simulation
Dynamic network modeling
Simulation and optimization of transportation systems
Control and management of transportation systems
Traffic flow modeling and short-term predictions
Vehicle routing and route planning
Human factors, Minds and Cognition

Full paper submission 15th of July 2019

Full papers will be selected for possible inclusion in special issues or special numbers of the following indexed journal:
1. Transport Policy
2. IET ITS – Intelligent Transport Systems
3. Ingegneria Ferroviaria

The submitted papers shall not be already published or going to be published on other journals and the author must give the oral presentation of their work during the seminar.
The publication of the Special issues of IET ITS and of Transport Policy is indicatively scheduled by May 2020. The calls for submission will be opened in May/June and closed by the 1st of October 2019.

A special session will be organized for young researchers (e.g. Master’s students, PhD’s students, researchers without a tenured role in the Academy). Young researcher should send to a freely formatted abstract (1 A4 page) indicating the authors (only non-permanent researchers), the title and illustrating:

(i) the main aims and scopes,

(ii) the proposed methodology

(iii) the main conclusions and elements of originality

The best paper presented, evaluated on the abstract and the presentation, will be awarded a special prize during the Scientific Seminar.
